Burmese
Cyclone Emergency:
With great pain
we have witnessed the suffering and plight of our brothers and
sisters in Burma after being hit by Cyclone Nargis last
Saturday. The news tells us that there might be over 100,000
people dead and myriads more missing, ill, or hungry. At these
difficult times, we must not ignore the words of Torah bidding
us not to stand idly by our brethren's blood. World Jewish
Relief has started an important appeal to be able to respond to
this catastrophe as a community, and we strongly encourage you
to contribute in their efforts. If you wish to make a
donation to the World Jewish Relief Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone
Appeal, you can do so by calling them on 020-8736-1250, or
directly through the following link:

The
first Saturday in March was especially memorable for the visit
of guest rabbi, Rabbi Danny Rich. Amongst other topics,
Danny shared his thoughts on Jewish status, with particular
reference to the controversial admission’s policy of Jews Free
School, A discussion on the origin of Halachah and its
relevance to modern life continued after the service in a shiur
(study session) led by Danny in the comfort of the Lily Montagu
hall - a comfort reinforced by the inclusion of a rather fine
lunch!
