Joan Rich's family are among the founding families of South London Liberal Synagogue and Joan herself is a mine of information  both on the earliest days of SLLS and on her family's connections with Jew's Free School when it was located in Bell Lane, London E1.  Joan lent me some JFS magazines from 1936 & 1937 and looking through them I found mentions of her late Uncle - and founder of SLLS - Samuel Morris Rich.  Sam Rich taught at Jews' Free School and was a contributor to their School magazine. Reproduced to the right is a page from the Jews' Free School Magazine of December 1936 containing two lighthearted poems by him.   He was clearly a keen observer of Human behaviour!
