John Rich Memorial Day Sunday, 26th November 2006 - exploring South London's Jewish Heritage.

Looking at one of the exhibits celebrating Jewish life in South LondonWhile other parts of 'Jewish' London are more well known - for example the East End - South London also has a rich Jewish history, as speaker after speaker attested to at our special day of celebration on Sunday 26 November 2006.  Speakers from all sections of the community - Orthodox, Reform and Liberal - told the story of their own synagogues and exhibited displays of photos and more in our Lily Montagu Hall.  In addition the Deputy Executive Director of the Nightingale Home for aged Jews in Clapham told us of their great work and background.  Incidentally, your webmaster recently discovered that his Great Grandfather (Hyman Grossman, a resident at Nightingale in the 1930's)  used to lead the Home's communal seder!

The photos below tell some of the story of the day...enjoy!
