Saturday 20 March at
6.00pm
An evening with author David Benedictus – writer of Return to
the 100 Acre Wood, the authorised sequel to Winnie The Pooh
by A A Milne
David
is a celebrated raconteur and a prolific author and will talk about
his life, his work and of course Winnie the Pooh. You will have the
opportunity to buy signed copies of David’s books and enjoy some of
Winnie the Pooh’s favourite refreshments. This is what David says
about himself:
“I published my authorised sequel to The House at Pooh Corner last
October but before that I had done everything. I had worked in BBC
Radio and Television, interviewing Judy Garland for the former and
being a part of the Z-Cars team for the latter. My first novel was a
satirical attack on Eton and my second was filmed by Coppola in New
York. There have been twenty something books since. I directed for
the RSC, modelled for Vogue, and was antiques correspondent for
the Evening Standard. I reviewed plays, films, records and books. I
ran a horse-racing system for 21 years and took tourists round
London for 5 years. I commissioned drama for Channel 4 (including
the Emmy-winning Porterhouse Blue). I have taught extensively and
still do. I was private tutor to the Rothschild Family. I have
written and directed musicals for the theatre. For six years I
was in charge of Book at Bedtime on Radio 4. I have four children
who are condescending towards me and three grandchildren whom I
enjoy scaring. I have worked for Amnesty International since 1965
and my hobbies include chess and dealing in stamps.”
